So, as titles go, Champions of the Electrocube War is a little better than Spectres of Brocken or Sandwiches of the Foreboding Doggerel or whatever. At least if you know Transformers, you've got a chance. But yeah, this is an unlicensed Transformers RPG (there is a licensed one, of course, I did a character for it last October). This game is much simpler, too, which might be good? But it's also very OSR in its sensibilities, so very often "simple" equates to "iunno, make it up". Let's see.
Right, so first I need Attributes. They're the standard six from D&D, but without the unnecessary scores, so we just roll 6d6, convert those into modifiers, and then assign them. Hang on, need a dice roller. 6, 6, 4, 4, 4, 2. Well, that's not terrible. Let's see, what's my dump stat gonna be?
Let's make it Strength, I feel like making a rascally little robot. I'll put my good scores into Dexterity and Wisdom, how about. That means my stats are:
Strength -1
Dexterity +3
Constitution +1
Intelligence +1
Wisdom +3
Dexterity +3
Constitution +1
Intelligence +1
Wisdom +3
Charisma +1
Not bad a'tall. For Luck, I roll a d4, add 2, add my CHA, and then maybe add something from my class. Anyway, I rolled a 3, so we're at 8 right now.
Hit points are 10 + CON, or 11 for me.
Evade is 11 + DEX, or 14 for me.
And then class. I know I want to be a Micro-Bot. My vehicle form is a Heli-Sport CH7 single-seat helicopter. Technically only bad guys can be flying vehicles, but fuck that, that's stupid (there's a Gen 1 Autobot named Blades who turns into a helicopter). Anyway, as a Micro-Bot, I get an extra 4 HP, 2 Armor Points (or 3 if I use my Ion Shield), a +1 to DEX but a -1 to CON (so I lose 1 HP, but I've still gained a net of 3), and I get an extra 1d6 Luck to start (4, so I'm up to 12).
And that's basically it. I could roll for a random background if I wanted. Eh, sure, why not. A 7 makes me a braggart. Sure, I could play that.
Let's say that Tall Tale (for 'tis his name) is a green and white robot, about 8 feet tall (that's short for a Shifter!). His rotors don't become weapons when he shifts, instead they become parts of his legs and arms and make him a little more stable. Tall Tale compensates for his size with his mouth - he's always got some story about how he took down a massive Chaos Lord in a dogfight or withstood the blast of an exploding Electro-Cube or make the Kessel run in 12 parsecs or something.
Tall Tale
