Character Creation: vs. Pirates

I feel like making a character but I'm not feeling terribly focused, which is why I'm happy to have games like this.

The Game: vs. Pirates
The Publisher: Denagh Design
Degree of Familiarity: None
Books Required: Just the one, and "book" is generous

Like the other "vs" games, this one is off a pamphlet. As usual, the conceit is very simple and somewhat malleable: We're on the high seas in the Caribbean, we can be pirates, pirate hunters, etc. I like the sound of a pirate hunter, actually.

Name and Concept: My character is Luc Mureau, the son of a French sailor and a woman from Hispaniola. His parents were killed by pirates when he was a young man, and he's sworn revenge.

Health: 10 points, that's easy.

Stats: Swashbuckling and Parley, one gets 4 and one gets 6. These are basically fighting and not-fighting. I think Luc is more a fighter than not, so 6 in Swashbuckling.

Qualities: 1 or 2 Goods, and then a like number of Bads. I'll take Dirty Fighter because Luc fights to win, and Cunning (increasing my Parley to 5). That means I need two Bads, though. I'll take Landlubber (Luc's experience on ships is lacking), and Hunted (the pirate that killed my parents knows I'm gunning for him and he'd be happy to take me out first).

Gear: I get the usual pirate trappings (cutlass, bandana, boots, etc.) plus something special that no one else has. I'll say I have a crucifix that mom gave me that I wear on a chain around my neck (but I'll pull it off and pop it in me boot before a fight).

And that's it! Luc is light skinned, black hair, his father's blue eyes and his mother's radiant smile. His skin is oddly smooth and pristine (hasn't been to sea yet), and he's still finding his sea legs, but he's definitely hankering to put his cutlass into some pirate booty.
